Passive Loudspeaker

JBL Professional PRX415M WH: a white, asymmetrical design intended to sit on the floor, just a few centimetres from the performer’s feet. The 15" driver and 1" compression driver deliver 600 W of programme power, whilst the 90° x 50° dispersion pattern covers the stage from one end to the other.

With the PRX415M-WH, JBL Professional has made a comeback to the stage that speaks both softly and loudly: when floor-mounted, its asymmetrical design directs the sound towards the performer’s face rather than towards the ceiling. The 15" JBL M115-8A driver delivers full-bodied bass, whilst the 1" 2414H-C compression tweeter, with its polymer diaphragm, cuts through the treble without ever distorting it.

The 18 mm birch and poplar plywood cabinet withstands the rigours of touring, protected by a 16-gauge perforated steel grille and a white DuraFlex finish that resists both stage abrasion and the glare of spotlights. A recessed handle on the top makes carrying the speaker up stairs a breeze.

With no built-in amplification, the PRX415M-WH utilises a passive crossover and handles a continuous power rating of 300 W, a programme power rating of 600 W and a peak power rating of 1200 W, at an impedance of 8 Ω. Its sensitivity of 98 dB and peak SPL of 129 dB deliver plenty of volume right from the very first watts of power.

For connectivity, two Neutrik SpeakON NL2 inputs/outputs allow multiple cabinets to be daisy-chained without cluttering the stage. Its twelve M10 suspension points and 35 mm stand socket make it suitable for overhead mounting in fixed installations, as well as for traditional use as stage monitoring or vocal reinforcement.

JBL Professional stands out for its focus on demanding sound reinforcement applications. The brand develops systems designed for both live concerts and fixed installations, with particular attention paid to acoustic coverage and mechanical reliability.

The PRX400 series exemplifies this philosophy with loudspeakers designed to function as main systems or monitor speakers.

JBL also combines its transducers with robust enclosures and mounting solutions suited to permanent installations. This versatile design allows certain models to be used either on the floor or suspended.

The PRX415M-WH, in particular, embodies this approach with twelve M10 suspension points and a birch/poplar plywood construction.
