To find out more...
Larry Carlton built a rare reputation in the world of guitar: that of a musician capable of making every note 'speak'. In the 70s, he became one of the pillars of the Los Angeles sessions, to the point of being nicknamed "Mr. 335" for his emblematic use of the Gibson ES-335.
His playing on Room 335 (now a cult classic) perfectly illustrates his approach: a blend of sophisticated jazz, lilting blues and almost vocal precision. He also marked generations of guitarists by showing that a solo doesn't need extreme speed to be memorable - just placement, taste and control of sound.
