Lexicon - PCM Native Effects (licence)

The Lexicon PCM Native Effects is designed for productions that require more than just corrective processing. Its appeal lies in its ability to transform an audio source and give it a new dimension, whether to enrich a musical arrangement, create a sonic texture or add a particular movement to an element of the mix.

The bundle comprises seven distinct effects: Pitch Shift, MultiVoice Pitch, Chorus, Resonant Chords, Random Delay, Dual Delay and Stringbox. This variety allows it to cater to a wide range of applications. Pitch shifting, for example, can be used to create an artificial backing vocal or to radically alter a voice, whilst MultiVoice Pitch can generate multiple voices from a single source to achieve a sense of thickness or width.

The delay effects, meanwhile, offer numerous possibilities for working on depth and movement. Dual Delay, in particular, allows you to create differentiated repeats, whilst Random Delay can introduce less predictable variations that are particularly interesting in sound design. Chorus, for its part, provides a more traditional form of modulation, useful for adding depth to an instrument, a voice or a texture.

PCM Native Effects is also useful for film scoring. A very simple sound source can thus be transformed into an atmospheric element, an electronic texture or a more abstract effect designed to accompany a sequence. The effects then become genuine creative tools rather than mere mixing processes.

The interface offers several real-time visualisations to help you better understand how the processing works: a 3D view of the voices, frequency response and impulse response. The stereo and phase meters also allow you to monitor the signal’s behaviour and its mono compatibility.
