Presentation
Nocturnal velvet, woody grain, deep breathing. The Sire Marcus Miller GB5 4-String creates an intimate ambience where each note floats like a double bass in a subdued club. The Marcus Acoustic Bass Shape format keeps the bass close to the body, while the internally-chambered body allows air to circulate freely under the top. This architecture creates a dense acoustic colour, inspired by the great traditional jazz basses. Slow lines become thicker, and nuances are kept alive, even in discreet finger attacks.
The combination of solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides delivers a superb balance of clarity and warmth. Under the left hand, the 3-piece mahogany neck with C-Shape profile provides a natural, almost organic grip. The Edgeless™ Rosewood fingerboard with rounded edges lets the movements glide smoothly. The 20 x 2.4 mm Medium frets, 304.8 mm radius and 38 mm bone nut open up the space needed for nuanced jazz lines as well as stronger grooves. Even the pearly markings catch the light discreetly.
The piezo sensor under the saddle reproduces every vibration of the wood with relief, even in the muffled attacks of unplugged playing. The Vividx-B preamp with 3-band EQ refines satin highs, woody mids and deep lows with volume, treble, midrange, bass and phase inverter controls. The Sire Acoustic Bass bridge, Premium die-cast tuners, chrome hardware, 19 mm string spacing and 4-bolt neck-to-body binding with ferrules keep every note stable over long, late-night sessions.
