The CR 5 Piezo from NS Design is a double bass for musicians who want to explore beyond the usual 4 strings. This fifth string offers a real plus, whether it's for getting lower or for gaining notes in the treble. It opens up a whole new range of possibilities for jazz, contemporary music or more experimental projects, while retaining the feel and precision of an acoustic double bass.

It's built from solid maple with a beautiful flamed top and Amber Stain finish. This solid wood ensures a sound that's both even and detailed throughout the neck, and it's stable, so it's not sensitive to changes in temperature or humidity. The neck is well designed for easy access, even in the highest positions.

The fingerboard is made of ebony, hand-finished to fit the fifth string perfectly and provide even playability. Cascading dot markings help you find your bearings quickly, and the truss rod is adjustable to suit your playing style.

As for sound, the Polar Piezo system picks up both vertical and lateral vibrations. Whether you're playing pizzicato or bowed, the sound is expressive and sustained. The active preamp is simple and effective: volume, a switch to choose between arco or pizz sound, and a 2-band equaliser to fine-tune the sound, even in the most intense passages.

Finally, for transport, it comes with a well-designed padded case, with compartments for the tripod, bow and accessories.
