The CR-M 4-string electric double bass from NS Design is designed for double bassists who want to retain the touch and feel of an acoustic double bass while exploring new tonal textures.
Its solid maple body and neck, with a flamed maple top, provide exceptional stability and clarity, even in the face of variations in temperature and humidity. The full-scale fingerboard, precisely graduated and fitted with discreet markings, ensures secure finger placement and comfortable playing along the entire length of the neck.
The instrument adapts easily to different techniques. The adjustable truss rod and maple bridge allow you to adjust the action for dynamic arco playing or sustained pizzicato, while making it easier to move into the upper registers. Dotted markings on the neck provide a subtle visual guide, allowing you to navigate with confidence without losing the natural feel of a classical instrument.
The 4-string CR-M features the Polar Piezo system, which picks up vertical and lateral vibrations separately, and low-impedance EMG magnetic pickups, producing a wide sound palette ranging from rich acoustic timbre to electric bass-like nuances.
The blend of the two systems, controllable via the 18-volt active preamp, allows you to move smoothly from an expressive bowed sound to a precise, powerful pizzicato sound. Adjustable volume, bass/treble EQ and balance between piezo and magnetic give the musician total control over the sound.
This double bass is ideal for jazz, contemporary music or amplified performances, and lets you enjoy an electric sound while retaining the feel of a traditional double bass.
