The CR Amber Stain 5-string electric violin from NS Design combines the elegance of a traditional violin with the sonic freedom of an electric instrument.

Designed by Ned Steinberger, it offers a unique experience that will appeal to both the violinist who loves the warmth of an acoustic sound and those who want to explore contemporary textures.

Its solid maple body and neck, with flamed maple top, provide lightness, stability and excellent vibration transmission to the electronics, while resisting variations in temperature and humidity.

The hand-graduated ebony fingerboard ensures precise, comfortable articulation, and the ergonomic shoulder rest and chin rest provide stable support for hours of playing. A small removable segment on the treble side provides a reference for the position of the left hand, making it easy to make the transition from a classical violin.

The directional Polar Piezo pickup system selectively picks up vertical vibrations, perfect for sustained pizzicato, or lateral vibrations for dynamic bowing and percussive plucking.

The dual-mode active preamp lets you choose between a rich, detailed, modern sound or one that's closer to traditional acoustics. Controls include volume and bass/treble EQ, as well as a three-position selector for varying sounds.

The instrument also provides precise, stable tuning thanks to its patented system, with pegs located behind the bridge and quick, secure string changes.

Suitable for a wide range of musical styles, it is equally at home in jazz, rock, contemporary music and amplified chamber music. Directly amplifiable or usable for recording, it opens up new perspectives while preserving the timeless magic of the violin.
