Hifi Cartridge

The Ortofon MC X50 is the technical culmination of the MC X range, with an architecture designed around mechanical precision and playback stability. Its bare Micro Ridge diamond combined with a boron cantilever make up a particularly meticulous assembly, capable of revealing the engraved information with great finesse. A specially developed suspension completes this rigorous design and helps maintain regular contact with the groove. Behind its refined aesthetic, the Ortofon MC X50 combines innovation, mastery of materials and discreet elegance, with the sobriety of an object that prefers to speak through its results.

ARTICLE N° 123610
At the pinnacle of the MC X series, the Ortofon MC X50 is based on a bare Micro Ridge diamond whose particularly small lateral radius improves tracking of high frequencies and limits reading errors in the inner zones of the record. This geometry also promotes even wear over time. As a result, the assembly maintains precise contact with the groove, enabling recorded modulations to be reproduced with a high degree of regularity.

Thanks to its boron cantilever, the MC X50 benefits from a structure that combines high rigidity with low moving mass. This configuration contributes to a rapid response to variations in the recorded signal and helps to reproduce the finest information. The mechanical behaviour remains under control, even during complex passages, ensuring stable playback throughout the recorded spectrum.

The design of the cantilever also helps to reduce phenomena that can affect tracking accuracy. This technical approach enables the cartridge to maintain excellent coherence when reproducing the different contents of the record.

The rubber suspension developed specifically for the MC X50 is one of the key elements of this design. Its shape and compound have been designed to work in synergy with the diamond and cantilever.

This system helps to control the mechanical movements of the moving assembly and helps to maintain constant stability during playback. The result is precise tracking of the groove and a reduction in undesirable vibrations that can alter the fidelity of the extracted signal.

The magnetic architecture chosen for the range incorporates a one-piece pole cylinder combined with a rear magnetic yoke. This configuration aims for high magnetic efficiency to optimise the operation of the moving coil generator. The coils also use high-purity silver wire to preserve the integrity of the electrical signal produced during reading. The combination of these different components contributes to the clarity of the signal transmitted to the audio system.

In this configuration, each mechanical and electromagnetic element works in interaction with the others to maintain a faithful reproduction of the information contained in the groove and to limit the phenomena likely to introduce undesirable distortions.

In terms of industrial design, the Ortofon MC X50 is part of an approach in which materials, mechanical tolerances and internal components are developed to function as a coherent whole. Its design, with its sober lines, fits in naturally with many tonearms. Up close, the quality of the finish underlines the attention paid to technical details without resorting to particularly demonstrative visual tricks.
