The look of this guitar amp is in no way the result of a simple stylistic delirium. Its appearance reflects the basic concept and operating principle of the amplifying circuit. The motto of the Palmer DREI: "The distortion in its most natural form and purest."
"Single ended" it tells you something? So you can already imagine the rest ... An amplification circuit type lamp 'Single Ended' is actually a circuit lamp minimalist - is obtained as it sounds lamp pure and authentic.
The main disadvantage of a single-ended type of circuit compared to a type of circuit 'Push-Pull' lies in its reduced output power - usually less than 5 Watts. Type circuits 'single-ended' are therefore often used in recording amplifiers or study.
The attributes of a good single-ended type of circuit are:
immediate response to guitar playing
a feeling of interaction 'direct' between the instrument and the sound
a very pure design, involving only a few components
minimizes a signal path
pure distortion and "natural"
Single-Ended type circuits are as old as lamp technology, and does not constitute a novelty. The design of the Palmer DREI goes further - the product contains more of these amplifier stages - to you to guess how! The answer is three-story single-ended amplifiers together in one device - meaning 3 x 5 W, so three times a normal circuit output power. Which is not negligible!

For example, an EL84 will tend, when pushed, generating a pronounced distortion and provide a sound quite open ("English", evoking a small Vox amplifier); conversely, a 6V6 will sound less bright, with a 'silky' distortion (his "American", evoking a Fender amp); the 6L6, meanwhile, has a very special property: with reduced output power, it possesses a rather clear, but as the output power increases, the sound becomes muffled. The Palmer DREI allows you to mix at will these three different amplifiers sounds.
