Presentation
As soon as the first audio sources are installed, the K.O.-Sidekick's 2 stereo inputs make it easy to connect synthesizers, drum machines, samplers or external players without complicated configuration. Each channel has its own compressor and several EQs, so you can adapt the mix to suit the ambience you're looking for or the equipment connected.
In the centre of the front panel, motion control effects add lively rhythmic variations during a mix or live-remix. Operation remains fluid, even with rapid transitions, so there's no need to fumble around like a failed juggling act with cables.
Thanks to its integrated USB audio interface, the K.O. Sidekick can be easily integrated into a digital production environment without having to multiply the devices around the computer. Recording demos, music podcasts or electronic loops becomes quicker, because the main settings remain immediately accessible via the physical controls on the main panel.
Some users will use it as a stand-alone creative processor to rework previously recorded rhythms or textures. The filtering, compression and looping effects provide a spontaneous approach that retains a very direct feel during manipulation.
A cue output lets you discreetly prepare transitions or adjustments before playing them on the main mix. This function is particularly useful during a stream, a compact DJ set or a late-night rehearsal where the neighbours are already watching the walls with perfectly legitimate concern.
As an added bonus, several units can also be linked together to increase the number of channels that can be used for a group performance or an evolving setup. Teenage Engineering has even thought of creating small elements, the EP-Peg, which can be used to assemble several K.O.-Sidekick (EP-Peg sold separately).

To find out more...
On a minimalist desk, the K.O. Sidekick will quickly become a compact control centre for assembling several audio sources simultaneously. Its compact size makes it easy to move between flats, rehearsal rooms or shared creative spaces.
During an electronic performance, the beat-match functions will facilitate rhythmic sequences between different connected machines. The integrated effects loops also provide rapid variations without the need for additional external equipment taking up half a table already saturated with cables.
When used for music podcasts or creative streaming, the integrated audio processing improves level management and makes interventions more homogeneous without complicated technical manipulation.
Some mobile producers will also use this device as a sound sketching tool to quickly test out rhythmic ideas. Immediately accessible controls speed up experimentation and limit the interruptions caused by endless menus worthy of an old MP3 player.
The EP-136 K.O. Sidekick works effectively with compact drum machines, analogue synthesizers or portable samplers using conventional stereo audio connections. A pair of active monitor speakers will also improve mix control in a small or mobile space.
Several USB MIDI controllers, modern grooveboxes or portable audio players can be added to the set-up to extend the possibilities for remixing, rhythm creation and live sound processing.
In an IT environment, this USB audio interface is a natural partner for music production, streaming or multitrack recording software. A good pair of headphones will facilitate discreet pre-listening when inspiration strikes late at night without warning anyone.
