Thomastik-Infled is an Austrian manufacturer of strings for bowed string instruments (violin, viola, cello and bass) and plucked (guitar and bass). The company was founded in 1919 by Franz Thomastik (luthier and Doctor of Philosophy) and Otto Infeld (engineer) 1. On the death of Franz Thomastik in 1951, bought the company Otto Infeld. Margaretha Infeld took over the business in 1965 with the death of Otto Infeld. Peter Infeld takes its sequel in 1994, until he died in 20092. The company has since headed by Zdenka and Robert Infeld Infeld 3.
