Thomastik-Infled is an Austrian manufacturer of strings for bowed (violin, viola, cello and double bass) and plucked (guitar and bass) instruments. The company was founded in 1919 by Franz Thomastik (violin maker and Doctor of Philosophy) and Otto Infeld (engineer)1. When Franz Thomastik died in 1951, Otto Infeld bought the company. Margaretha Infeld took over the business in 1965, upon the death of Otto Infeld. Peter Infeld took over in 1994, until his death in 20092. The company has since been managed by Zdenka Infeld and Robert Infeld 3.
