A 5-string electric double bass where the low string diverges from the rest of the string creates a break in tension and timbre that the ear detects immediately. The FW610 Low B string completes the FW610 set by sharing exactly the same manufacturing architecture: multi-strand metal core, tungsten winding, smooth polished surface. The low register is the same dense and sustained as the A, D, G and C strings in the original set.

Compatibility with the 5-string double bass is not simply a question of vibrating length. The mechanical behaviour of this string - flexibility under bow, calibrated damping, tension tuned to pitch B - has been established to fit in with the logic of the FW610 without creating an imbalance between the neighbouring strings. The low B string retains the same pizzicato responsiveness and bow hold as the rest of the set.

This Low B is designed for double bassists who already play with the FW610 set and want to replace only the low string without altering the sound balance of the instrument.
