The Thorens TD 1601 Walnut is a belt-driven manual turntable that combines timeless design with modern features. Like the TD 1600, it is inspired by the famous Thorens TD 160 from 1972. However, it differs from its big sister in that it has an electronic tone arm control system, an automatic stop function and electronic stabilisation.

Featuring a chassis suspended on three springs, it is also equipped with a heavy aluminium platter for high inertia and effective absorption of vibrations and mechanical interference. Belt tension is adjustable to maintain even rotation of the platter, which is driven by an electronically controlled motor, offering playback speeds of 33 and 45 rpm.

The high-precision TP 92 tone arm, made from cold-forged aluminium, offers exceptional stability with a precision ball bearing. It is compatible with ½" format and can be adjusted in height. Anti-skating is provided by adjustable ferrite magnets. The tone arm can be electronically controlled for easy handling.
