The Yamaha P-145BT marks a real departure from its predecessor, the P-45. Its slimmed-down format fits into smaller interiors, while retaining an 88-key GHC keyboard that seriously evokes the feeling of playing an acoustic piano. It's not a gadget for the living room: it's a piano designed to be played every day, in line with the brand's GHS models. When you press the matt-finish black keys, you almost forget you're playing a digital piano, and the silence of the neighbourhood appreciates this subtlety.

The sound part doesn't do things by halves: Yamaha's CFIIIS generator faithfully reproduces the grain of a concert grand piano, with subtle effects such as Damper Resonance.
For those who like to pile on the layers of sound, the Dual and Duo modes open up far wider creative possibilities than you might think. And if your inspiration tends to hide on a Sunday evening, the 303 tracks accessible via the Smart Pianist app will chase it for you.

The pack really comes into its own with the Yamaha L-100B cabinet and LP-5A pedalboard. One stabilises the unit, the other gets you into the music with 3 responsive pedals (soft, sustain, loud). The USB audio/MIDI connection also lets you link your configuration to a DAW, or to the Rec'n'Share app if you prefer to play the mobile producer.
