Born Frank Edwin Wright III in Germany, Tré Cool has been the high-energy drummer for the Californian punk rock band Green Day since 1990. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, he has propelled the trio to global stardom with cult albums such as *Dookie* and *American Idiot*.
His playing style, characterised by frenetic speed, ultra-precise tom rolls and a beat of animalistic power, has redefined the role of the drums in modern punk and inspired a whole generation of musicians.
