Zildjian - K Custom 21" Hybrid Ride

The Zildjian K Custom Hybrid Ride 21" was developed with Japanese drummer Akira Jimbo around a very simple idea: to create a ride capable of maintaining precise definition while remaining truly crashable. Many all-purpose rides promise this balance, but here the cymbal's behaviour really changes depending on the zone you're playing in.

The unmachined centre provides a very clean stick attack, with a clear, well-defined ping. When playing precise grooves or fast patterns, the cymbal retains excellent legibility without becoming cold or metallic. The bell also stands out with great presence, which works very well in fusion, funk or progressive contexts where the accents need to cut through the mix.

On the other hand, the outer, more lathen part opens up the sound completely. When you attack the edge, the ride becomes softer and develops a wider wash with a real crash feel. This natural transition between precision and openness makes the cymbal particularly enjoyable in dynamic tracks where the playing is constantly evolving.

Its 21" diameter also helps to maintain a good balance between depth, projection and control. It has the dark, complex character of the K Custom, but with a more modern, flexible response than some traditional jazz rides.
