In open terrain, the range is up to 7 km, depending on obstacles, so you can play far away without losing contact. Eight channels and 38 CTCSS codes limit interference, and the VOX function allows hands-free use.
The units come with a rechargeable NiMH battery pack and charging station, or can be operated with three spare AAA batteries. The controls are easy for little hands to use, and the quick grip reassures parents when they're out and about or playing in the open air, as well as offering extended battery life.
