Allen & Heath - Carte Firewire GS R24

The GS-R24 FireWire/ADAT module has been designed as a natural extension to the GS-R24 analogue console, linking the world of traditional mixing with that of multi-track digital recording. When fitted to the back of the console, it allows up to 32 channels of audio to be sent and received simultaneously, without altering the user's usual workflow.

In FireWire mode, the card offers a bi-directional 32-in / 32-out audio interface to a DAW, with sampling frequencies up to 96 kHz. This configuration makes it possible to record each console channel separately, but also to send tracks from the software to the analogue channels for mixing or external summing. Signal routing remains transparent and consistent with the GS-R24's internal architecture.

The module can also operate in ADAT mode, or in a hybrid FireWire + ADAT configuration. This flexibility allows the integration of external converters, digital recorders or other compatible equipment, while maintaining reliable synchronisation. ADAT inputs and outputs carry up to 8 channels per port at 44.1 or 48 kHz, and can be used alongside or independently of FireWire as required.

Clock management is designed for professional environments. The module has Word Clock inputs and outputs on BNC connectors, enabling it to be synchronised to an external clock or used as a master for other digital devices. Synchronisation can also be via ADAT, offering several options depending on the studio configuration.

On the control side, the module comes with a dedicated software panel for macOS and Windows. This allows you to set the sampling frequency, clock source, buffer sizes and operating mode, while providing precise information on synchronisation status and firmware. The interface also incorporates MIDI ports, which can be used either via the FireWire bus or the integrated DIN connectors, to ensure communication with the console's control and automation functions.
