About the Masterworks series
We created our Masterworks series to be the best range of fully solid-state guitars available to players today. Their specifications are incredibly high for their cost and they perform like fully solid-state professional guitars, with fantastic response and projection.
Nothing can really match an all solid wood guitar. Note deviation is faster, sound quality is better, you can get optimum response and the sound of your guitar only gets better with age.
After 55 years of making guitars, continuous improvement through the use of emerging technologies, processes and materials is still at the heart of our culture. Alvarez guitars are built right in every sense, from the preparation of raw materials to the construction and manufacturing processes.
Our tonewoods are carefully dried; our components such as neck blocks and wood joints are carefully designed. The painting, sanding and polishing techniques we use are continually researched and developed, and our sound is impeccably engineered and married to a stable, coherent and lively soundbox.
This caring approach to development stems from a simple goal: to provide the best guitars on the market at every price point, instruments that offer truly incredible value and provide a fantastic playing experience.
The term 'all solid' refers to the top, back and sides of the guitar being made of solid wood rather than laminate. However, even when the guitar is made entirely from solid wood, it only performs to its full potential when it is designed to make the most of its materials and components. The tops we use in Masterworks are top quality, which means we can make them slightly thinner to increase vibration. The top and back radii are also refined to help increase volume.
Each guitar is designed to make the most of its components and for them to work together. These components include our FS6 bracing system, two-tier bridges, real bone nuts and saddles, carefully seasoned tonewoods and a fine finish.
FS6 is a forward offset X-brace design. This means the X axis is closer to the rosette, creating a larger soundboard area to harness more energy and vibration. The X-braces and asymmetrical tone bars are carefully scalloped, a design that is the result of ongoing development in our Yairi workshops. Our FS6 system brings uniformity between Dreadnought, Grand Auditorium, OM and Parlour body sizes, so voicing has a similar character, but individual tone is more purely influenced by the size and shape of the guitar.
The personality of Masterworks is open and powerful. FS6 also creates a very good balance, so that the treble and bass registers are clearly present and balanced in relation to each other. All our tops are selected by our team and calibrated independently of our suppliers, then carefully refined in traditional kilns and modern thermo-furnaces.
With a more inclined headstock, our two-level bridge increases string tension by making the string break angel from the saddle to the top sharper. Improved string tension adds to our sound, feel and response, which are also enhanced by the use of real bone nuts and saddles.
We hope you can see and feel our unwavering attention to detail and that it inspires you every time you play our guitars.
Thank you for choosing Alvarez.
