Axel Technology - Oxygen 3000 Plus 12 Fader 1A Dante

A radio programme can bring together the voices of presenters, guests, telephone calls, music, the broadcast computer, studio feeds and network sources within a matter of minutes. The Oxygen 3000 Plus 12 Fader 1A Dante 16 brings all these different elements together on a single interface, eliminating the need to switch between multiple devices. Each fader has its own 2.2-inch TFT IPS display to identify the source, monitor its level and quickly check its status.

The console offers five microphone inputs on its Audio I/O card, with +48 V phantom power and dedicated processing. Automix can automatically manage multiple microphones by reducing the levels of unused channels, whilst the 5-band parametric equaliser, compressor, expander and ducking functions allow vocals to be processed directly within the console.

Communications also play a key role in this configuration. A telephone hybrid is built-in, and a Telco interface enables the management of N-1 returns. Bluetooth can be used for calls or to receive a stereo audio stream, whilst USB connections provide a direct link to computers used in production or broadcasting.

The 16 × 16 Dante interface adds another dimension to the console by enabling audio to be routed over the network. It supports AES67 as well as SMPTE ST 2110-30, with independent level control and sample rate conversion.

The console retains an operating logic that is very much geared towards day-to-day use: eight customisable Smartkeys, function buttons on the faders, snapshots, separate monitoring for the control room and the studio, an HDMI output, and remote control via Oxygen Remoter or the web interface. All of this allows the configuration of a programme to be changed quickly without disrupting the usual layout of the control surface.
