Taking the elements that have made its Katana series so successful, Japanese manufacturer BOSS has succeeded in further improving the formula.
This 100W combo with class A/B amplifier may be compact in size, but it's still a stage beast with all the power you'll need for your next live show, and its custom-made 12" speaker ensures a well-balanced sound and great volume projection.
The 5 presets that have made the Katana series famous are enhanced by a new one: Pushed, based on the inflated and compressed Clean, on the verge of Crunch like on a tube amp. With these 6 voicings plus their variations, it's impossible for beginners and experienced guitarists alike not to find their sound, from the clearest tone to the most ferocious saturation.
A preset specially dedicated to electro-acoustic guitars, respecting the specific frequencies of these guitars, makes it the ideal companion for all types of performances.
In addition to its ultra-complete voicings, the Katana boasts a rich effects section to suit every guitarist's needs, and can be modified via the Boss Tone Studio application by connecting the amp to a PC/MAC via USB-C. It's also possible to download and share your various presets via the Boss Tone Exchange, with presets from previous generations supported by this 3rd generation.
In terms of connectivity, this new version is more than complete, with :
- 6.35mm stereo headphone output ;
- an Aux In mini jack for connecting your audio player and jamming to your favourite tracks;
- a 6.35mm jack Line Out for sending the signal to a mixing desk;
- a dedicated port for the optional BT-DUAL adapter to stream music from your player via Bluetooth;
- an effects loop for passing your various effects pedals after the preamp;
- a Stereo Expand switch for generating stereo by connecting one Katana 100 to another (Line Out on the first to Power Amp In on the second);
- an input for optional Boss expression pedals such as EV-5, EV-30, FV-500L and FV-500H;
- a Footswitch input supporting the GA-FC and GA-FC EX, for total foot control;
- a USB-C port so you can connect to a PC or Mac to use the application.
