Catalinbread has combined the best elements of a Tone Bender MkII fuzz, widely regarded as the best of the Tone Benders, with Rat distortion to create something that sings like a fuzz but is precise like a distortion. In the original, a germanium transistor makes the signal strong. A second transistor makes it very loud. A third makes it ridiculously loud. Its filter control works like a charm, allowing nuances you'd never get with a Tone Bender MKII.
