The CONVERT-AD+ is a 1U rack-mount converter offering exceptional transparency and musicality.
At the same time, Dangerous Music gives the other products on the market a run for their money with 5 innovations that are truly relevant to the user, whether professional or experienced amateur.
These 5 innovations are :
1- Switchable dual input for instant comparison of two separate sources, for example two mastering processing chains. This simple yet intelligent feature makes it easy to compare your mix with a reference track, or to switch from a mixing configuration to a mastering configuration.
2- 'CLIP GUARD', an exclusive technology that lets you push the A/D beyond 0dBFS, to clip or get a particular sound. With 'Clip Guard', you can 'turn off' your DAW's red LED, so that the AD+ overshoot indicator changes from green to yellow. What for, you might ask? Well, so that "Mastered for iTunes" or your CD pressing plant no longer rejects your work because of "red" overruns, since they will no longer appear. This has nothing to do with a limiter: the sound will remain the same, but your DAW's red overshoot indicators will simply no longer light up, even if the signal audibly exceeds 0 dBFS.
3- The zoom function on the level meters cleverly allows you to analyse in greater detail the levels that reach the highest 10dB region of the signal.
In most cases, the dynamics of a mix or master reside in the region between the average level and the peaks. The zoom function is great for those who want to work with dynamics very meticulously.
4- Switchable transformers: the CONVERT-AD+ lets you use a pair of Hammond transformers (with over 100 years' experience in the field) wired in series, and let the magic happen.
5- The 'Emphasis' function developed by Chris Muth to enhance the work of the Hammond transformers with its EQ/Compression duo and offer a whole range of colours to your mix. In other words, Emphasis adds harmonic distortion (warmth in the lower midrange and excitement in the treble) and parallel shelving EQ gives presence to the midrange and treble.)
