Guitar Microphone
Legendary guitarist Steve Vai continues to experiment and explore new horizons in terms of guitar tone. For his new range of JEM guitars, he wanted a new set of DiMarzio microphones capable of a relatively high output level but without volume drop between the different HSH positions, and which respects the natural acoustics of the instrument. Dark Matter 2 is born! Full Black finish, the photo shows another color.

Presentation
American guitarist Steve Vai is a legend in the field of instrumental and experimental music.
His name is inseparable from the brands Ibanez for whom he has a plethora of signature models, and DiMarzio who has created different sets of microphone sets corresponding to his sonic desires.
Known as an accomplished technician and shredder, Vai needs microphones capable of delivering a good dose of saturation as well as great precision and clear, defined notes.
By developing a new JEM line (his Ibanez signatures), the artist wanted a kit capable of precision but which would respect as much as possible the acoustics and the airy side coming from the violin making.
DiMarzio responded with the Dark Matter 2 set, and more particularly the one that interests us here, the central microphone.
Very often criticized by a drop in volume, power or even a neutral EQ, the central microphone nevertheless has an important role in HSH configurations. Whether for its position itself or the possibilities of mixing with other positions, it is the guarantor of the versatility of this type of kit and the Dark Matter 2 has been designed with this in mind.
We therefore find a central microphone with a relatively high output level (for a single coil) guaranteeing a respected volume between all positions, and the EQ particularly worked to bring out the woody and organic sound that the guitar gives off.
