The Empirical Labs Distressor EL8X-S is a couple of 2-channel stereo compressors, with "British Mode" and "Image Link". Unlike most analog compressors and limiters, the Distressor is a digitally controlled audio processor and integrates multiple products into one, using digital controls to switch completely different input and output circuits. This "heat" or vintage sound has returned to the taste of the past 15 years, because the digital technology too clean and linear can not "soften" the sounds, and does not focus on low frequencies in the musical sources. The couple of Distressor EL8X-S is paired at the factory, and comes with the cables to connect them together.

Frequency response: 2 Hz to 160 kHz in clean audio mode (+0, -3 dB). The response is formed in distortion mode (Dist 2, Dist 3).
Dynamic range 110 dB from max. to min. Output in 1: 1 mode. More than 100 dB signal / noise in distortion mode 3.
Distortion ranges between 0.02% and 20% depending on the distortion mode and the release times set on the front panel.
DC coupled output - High quality input caps.
The input impedance is 20 kOhms.
The output impedance is less than 75 Ohms.
Time constants - 50uS attack range - 50mS. Trigger range. 05 seconds to 3.5 seconds, normal modes and up to 20 seconds in 10: 1 opto mode. The time constants depend on the ratio.
Even with 384 different configurations (not including the settings handled by the front panel controls) it's almost impossible to degrade the sound.
