The Focal On Wall 302 boasts a remarkably wide spectrum for a wall-mounted loudspeaker: the frequency response extends from 50 Hz to 28 kHz, with a bass extension measured at 40 Hz thanks to the bass-reflex system, which allows optimised air movement despite the depth of the cabinet being limited to 9 cm. Sensitivity of 91dB unleashes dynamics from the very first watts, while power handling from 40W to 180W leaves plenty of scope to drive the speaker from an entry-level amp or a demanding home cinema processor. The nominal impedance of 8 Ω, with a floor measured at 5 Ω, ensures a stable load for the amplifier across the entire bandwidth.
The 2-way construction is based on a combination of transducers designed for tonal coherence. The four 100mm Flax diaphragms - flax fibres woven between two composite skins - reproduce the mid-bass register with a natural organic warmth and low distortion at high levels, a quality specific to this material patented by Focal. The 25mm TNF tweeter extends the upper end of the spectrum with crystalline precision, ensuring timbral continuity up to 28kHz. The whole unit is housed in a 155 × 1250 × 90 mm cabinet weighing 9.4 kg, finished in satin black and made in France to the assembly tolerances that characterise production at the Saint-Etienne factory.
Designed for hi-fi and home cinema in a wall-mounted configuration, the On Wall 302 can be placed against any wall without taking up any space, and can be adapted to an On Wall 300 Stand for use on a stand, thus extending the range of integration scenarios. The magnetic grille supplied as standard can be fitted and removed without the need for tools or traces, preserving the aesthetics of the panel while protecting the Flax membranes from accidental contact.
