Alex Van Halen, born on 8 May 1953 in Amsterdam, is the drummer and co-founder of the hard rock band Van Halen, which he formed in 1972 with his younger brother Eddie Van Halen. Renowned for his power, speed and remarkable technique, he is considered one of the greatest rock drummers of all time. He is particularly famous for his extravagantly large drums, his energetic solos and for being the only member, along with his brother, present in all the band's line-ups. After Eddie's death in 2020, Van Halen disbanded and Alex, who has always refused to record music without his brother, has since retired from the music scene.
