Transparency issues
Signal colouring is additive and can kill an otherwise pristine mix. That's why a coloured mix starts to fall apart, while the transparent mix has space, definition and a level of detail that's simply impossible to achieve with converters that add colour and distortion. Lynx's characteristic sonic transparency is the reason Lynx converters are used in the most critical audio applications and the world's finest recording facilities. Lynx converters have been specified for their amazing ability to convert signals without adding artefacts or colour. For audio engineers and producers demanding the purest recordings and mixes, Lynx is the converter of choice in facilities such as Dolby's new mega audio research complex, Skywalker Sound, NPR and the Smithsonian Institute. Lynx converters pass the most rigorous tests and shootouts to become the converters of choice for these demanding professionals. Precision counts more than ever and there is no room for the slightest coloration or degradation of the signal.

Network of discrete converters
Some manufacturers use several converters on a single chip. While this is a way of accommodating many converter channels in a single rack space while reducing costs, it comes at a high cost in terms of performance. At Lynx, the analogue signal path for each channel has been designed as a self-contained, shielded circuit. Each pair of channels has its own dedicated conversion device. This has many sonic benefits, dramatically reducing crosstalk and distortion while increasing dynamic range and performance.
