Mackie - Thrash 15 V2
The Mackie Trash 215 V2 powered speaker delivers energetic sound reproduction and wide sound dispersion, and is designed for performances where the system needs to remain easy to operate, whilst offering a comfortable sound reserve and a striking visual presence. Its Class D amplifier delivers 1,300 W peak power to drive its 15" speaker combined with a 1" compression driver, with a frequency response of 40 Hz to 18 kHz and a dispersion pattern of 90° by 60°, ensuring even coverage. Bluetooth, DSP presets and a feedback suppressor add a welcome degree of flexibility, particularly when music, vocals and instruments need to share the same system without turning every setup into a nightmare.
Presentation
Its 1" compression driver handles the high frequencies above the crossover set at 2.0 kHz, whilst the 15" driver handles the lower frequencies. The specified frequency response of 40 Hz to 18 kHz thus covers a large portion of the audible spectrum.
To adapt the sound reproduction to the acoustic environment, the DSP processing includes four equalisation presets. This approach allows you to quickly adjust the sound character depending on the nature of the programme being played, with an RMS power of 650 W and a maximum SPL of 129 dB, providing a substantial reserve when the sound level needs to remain high.
Wireless streaming expands the capabilities of this Mackie active speaker, as Bluetooth supports streaming from a smartphone, tablet or laptop without the need for a dedicated wired audio connection. The microphone input remains available during playback, which is particularly suitable for events, public speaking or vocal performances accompanied by a backing track, with a master volume control and separate gain control ensuring clear and intelligible sound.
The automatic feedback suppression function operates across 12 bands to minimise the whistling sounds that can occur when a microphone and a loudspeaker interact within the same acoustic space. A dedicated control allows this processing to be activated; it continuously analyses the signal to reduce problematic frequencies without requiring constant intervention.
For a sound reinforcement system, this function therefore adds a particularly useful layer of control, especially when multiple sound sources are being played back and every change in their positioning can alter the room’s acoustic behaviour.

If you’re looking for more impact in the bass, add a suitable subwoofer, then adjust the levels and crossover frequencies to effectively distribute the load between the different components and achieve a more balanced sound at high volumes.
Also remember to use a suitable cover or protective case when storing or transporting the speaker, as this will minimise the risk of scratches, knocks and dust build-up, particularly on the grille and controls.
