Presentation
When your speaker already features built-in amplification, DSP, equalisation and Bluetooth, your control room can finally breathe a sigh of relief. The elokance ZEFIR 12A packs all this into a 2-way system delivering 800 W RMS thanks to Class D bi-amplification.
For the lower end of the spectrum, it uses a 12-inch driver with a 3-inch voice coil. The treble is handled by a 5.3-inch driver with a 2-inch voice coil. The frequency response extends down to 50 Hz and up to 20 kHz. In terms of sound pressure level, elokance specifies 125 dB SPL with peaks of up to 131 dB.
Above all, the ZEFIR 12A features a DSP to manage the speaker’s performance. You can access the settings via the LCD screen and adjust the equalisation to tailor the sound to your needs or the venue.
FIR PHASE technology ensures the system’s phase coherence. Put simply, the processing doesn’t just correct the bass/treble balance: it also helps to ensure the various transducers work in harmony. It’s a detail far less obvious than a flashing screen, but far more useful when you’re listening to the result.
To connect your sources, there’s no need to dig out a mixing desk straight away. You have an XLR combo mic input, an XLR combo line input and a mini-jack Aux input. An XLR output allows you to route the signal to other equipment.
Bluetooth further simplifies small set-ups. You can stream music from your smartphone, then use TWS mode if you have two ZEFIR 12A speakers. The two speakers can then operate in stereo with a compatible Bluetooth source.
This versatility makes the ZEFIR 12A ideal for rehearsals, live bands, mobile DJs, events, conferences or small-scale event performances. You can use it on its own for a quick setup or connect it to a proper mixing desk when your setup starts to grow.
And since its 22 kg will regularly be put through the paces of loading and unloading, a dedicated carry bag is available as an optional extra.

What is the DSP used for on an active speaker?
The DSP processes the signal before it is sent to the amplifiers and speakers. On the ZEFIR 12A, it allows you, in particular, to adjust the equalisation via the LCD screen.
This is handy if you’re switching from voice use to playing music, or if the room’s acoustics require a few adjustments.
FIR PHASE: what difference does it make?
A 2-way system uses several transducers that do not reproduce the same frequencies. Their crossover therefore does not depend solely on the volume level.
FIR PHASE processing specifically addresses their phase and time behaviour. The aim is to achieve a more coherent transition between bass and treble and to preserve the system’s accuracy.
For a band or a DJ?
Both, but not necessarily in the same way. For a band, the ZEFIR 12A can be connected to a mixing desk handling vocals and instruments. Its 12" format offers an attractive solution for the front of house or various sound reinforcement needs depending on your setup.
For mobile DJing, the 800 W RMS and the claimed peak level of 131 dB make it suitable for gigs where there needs to be some headroom in the sound pressure level. If you need more power in the extreme bass range, you can build your system around a dedicated subwoofer.
And for a small event?
You can also do without the mixing desk when your requirements are straightforward. Plug your microphone directly into the dedicated input and stream your music via Bluetooth.
With two ZEFIR 12A speakers, the TWS system allows you to achieve stereo sound without an audio cable between the two speakers. All you need to do is supply them with the necessary power. As for electrons, they still haven’t embraced Bluetooth.
