The Pearl Session Studio Select STS924XSPC-852 is a drum kit designed for drummers looking for a structured sound that can be used both on mic and live recordings.
Its 5.4mm EvenPly-Six drums combine four Masters-grade birch outer plies with 2 African mahogany inner plies. This combination produces a precise high-frequency attack and a denser, more controlled bass. The 60° outer chamfer contributes to a concentrated bass and a clean response under the stick.
The 22 "x16" bass drum develops a solid low end without invading the spectrum. The 10 "x7" and 12 "x8" toms remain responsive, with good definition at both low and high dynamics. The 16 "x16" floor tom adds depth for heavy grooves. The triple-flanged 2.3mm SuperHoop II hoops ensure even tension across the skins.
The OptiMount suspension system holds the toms in place without restricting the natural vibration of the body. RL-10 shells on the toms and RL-20 shells on the bass drum ensure reliable clamping. Remo UT Pinstripe heads on the toms and Powerstroke 3 on the bass drum provide fast, effective adjustment. An internal bass drum damper is included to fine-tune response.
SST manufacture uses a high-pressure hydraulic process to produce consistent, stable drums. Each shell is inspected to ensure correct seating of the heads and ease of tuning.
