The Rode VideoMic NTG gives you professional-quality recordings for your video shoots, whether you're using a camera or stills camera (DSLR, SLR, Compact) or a smartphone or tablet.
Designed for cameras, the VideoMic NTG is a variation on the canon NTG5 microphone, with a sound that's just as natural and transparent.
The VideoMic NTG has a whole range of tools and settings to deal with any situation: high-pass filter, -20 dB attenuator, high-frequency amplification and safety channel, all via digital switching.
In addition to its classic use on a camera or stills camera (on their hot shoe, on a handle or at the end of a pole), the VideoMic NTG is also a USB microphone for smartphones, tablets or computers. In this configuration, the 3.5mm mini-jack socket can be used as a headphone output to monitor your recordings.

What is the purpose of the automatic 3.5 mm output detection function?
It's a clever feature that seamlessly detects whether your microphone is plugged into a TRS input, like those on most cameras, or a TRRS input, which most smartphones and tablets have, and switches the output to match. This means you don't have to worry about using TRS to TRRS adapter cables - the SC10 cable that comes with the VideoMic NTG will work perfectly with any device. However, if your device has a Lightning® connector or anything other than a 3.5mm input, you'll need to use an adapter.
There's also a handy new peak alarm indicator, so you can make sure your audio file isn't being overwritten.
