Roland - TAIKO-1
Enter the world of Roland's TAIKO-1 drum and discover a new way to experience Japanese percussion. Inspired by the katsugi okedo daiko, this electronic model retains the traditional feel while incorporating a powerful sound engine, Bluetooth and battery operation. It's lighter, can be dismantled and played through headphones, making it easy to play both at home and in concert. Explore a rich, immersive expression, and let the taiko resonate wherever you go.
Presentation
The mesh heads react with precision and remain acoustically very discreet. In practical terms, this changes everything: you can work on sequencing, striking and dynamics control without shaking the walls. Position detection brings real nuances depending on where you strike, which avoids the 'flat electronics' sensation. The centre remains dense and deep, staggered strokes breathe more freely, and the edge becomes more incisive. The expressiveness essential to taiko is retained.
In terms of sound, the instrument is not limited to a single type of drum. It incorporates several families of Japanese percussion instruments and typical ensemble elements, so you can vary the colours without having to multiply the number of physical instruments. Traditional accompaniment rhythms are included to help with timing, as if a band were playing along.
Mobility is another key point. Lightweight, quick to dismantle and battery-powered, it's easy to take with you to rehearsals or on stage. Bluetooth makes it easy to play along with songs or teaching aids. And for those who want to go further, importing personal sounds opens the door to a more creative approach. The spirit of the taiko remains, but with a freedom that acoustics alone cannot offer.
