Roland - TM-1
The TM-1 is the latest addition to Roland's extensive arsenal of hybrid drum modules and is aimed at drummers who have yet to make their mark in the world of hybrid drumming, but who want to bring a greater variety of sounds to their performances. These sounds can be anything from bass drums and snare drums to toms, cymbals and more. The TM-1 Trigger Module has a pair of mono inputs (which can also be used for a stereo pad) allowing you to extend your acoustic drum kit with pads or triggers. So you can enhance your acoustic drum sound by layering electronic sounds or expanding the range of sounds at your disposal. The TM-1 is the simplest and most effective way of making your acoustic kit hybrid and giving it a wider range of sounds!
Presentation
Sounds can be further enhanced using the Pitch, Decay and Sensitivity controls on the module itself.
Ground control is via a pair of pedals that allow you to select or mute the sound with ease. Particularly handy for making changes on the fly during a gig.
The TM-1 is certainly the affordable trigger module for the world of hybrid drums.

A hybrid kit lets you choose and customise sounds to create the ideal kit for each track in a set list. Using the TM-1 Editor, you can access all the module's internal sounds, import your own samples, assign sounds to the triggers you use and quickly adjust their various parameters. You can import samples up to six seconds long from a computer, tablet, smartphone or cloud storage location. And you don't need to carry around your computer to change sounds at the last minute. Your smartphone will let you do it.
Expand your acoustic sound with Roland RT Series pickups
Your acoustic drum sound is the best, but it will almost always need a little sonic reinforcement on stage. Big drums and snare drums are the backbone of a band sound, but it can be tricky to get them to stand out in a mix amongst the guitars, bass and keyboards. By using RT Series Acoustic Drum Sensors, you can layer samples stored in the TM-1 onto your bass and snare sounds, and amplify them in your PA to give them extra punch, clarity and depth. For years, metal drummers have been adding electronic sounds to their kick drum sound, especially when using a double kick pedal, allowing it to stand out even in a very dense mix. But this technique isn't exclusive to this musical genre. And thanks to the TM-1, all drummers can take advantage of the power of a hybrid kit.
Expand your percussive palette with Roland pads
The TM-1 is also a great way to expand the range of sounds available on your acoustic kit. By adding an electronic pad, you can trigger the sound of your choice. Two trigger inputs are available, allowing you to connect two single-sensor pads or one dual-sensor pad. Most Roland triggers work with the TM-1: BT-1 Trigger Bar, KT-10 Bass Drum Trigger Pedal, V-Pads, V-Cymbals... You can even connect BOSS footswitches such as the FS-5U or FS-6 and use them as trigger pedals. And don't forget that you can also use the TM-1's built-in footswitches to trigger sounds.
Ultra-portable, designed for touring
The TM-1's compact size means you can take it anywhere, and its Stompbox design blends in easily with your other gear on the floor. What's more, its battery-powered operation means you don't have to search for an available, accessible power outlet when you need to set up quickly for an outdoor gig. The TM-1 is light enough to be carried in a bag or instrument case, and it's built to travel thanks to its sturdy metal frame and footswitches.
Sensor-to-MIDI conversion for your computer
Whether you're composing at home, recording in the studio or performing on stage, sometimes you need to send a MIDI signal by hitting a pad. The TM-1 makes sensor-to-MIDI conversion simple. Just connect it to a computer via USB. You can then trigger sampled drum sounds or instrument plug-ins, record MIDI tracks in your music creation software or control various functions in software such as Ableton Live.
