Dave Weckl is an American drummer born in 1960, widely recognised for his precision, his sense of groove and his ability to move from one style to another without losing his signature sound. He made a name for himself in the 80s when he joined the Chick Corea Elektric Band, where his highly articulate playing and technical approach left their mark on a whole generation of musicians.
He then went on to work on numerous fusion, jazz and pop projects, both in the studio and on tour, with a rare consistency in the quality of his playing.
Over the years, Dave Weckl has also developed personal projects, such as the Dave Weckl Band, in which he explores more nuanced writing and a modern sound. Always committed to teaching, he regularly shares his working methods, groove concepts and approach to sound through masterclasses and educational content.
His contribution to the evolution of modern drumming remains essential today, both for drummers just starting out and for those seeking to develop their technique and musicality.
