Mike Portnoy is an acclaimed American drummer, composer and producer, best known as the co-founder and former drummer of progressive metal band Dream Theater. Renowned for his technical virtuosity and innovative drumming style, he was a driving creative force within the band for 25 years. Since his departure in 2010 and subsequent return in 2023, Portnoy has also been involved in a number of other successful projects, including The Winery Dogs and Transatlantic, demonstrating his versatility across different musical genres.
