The Beta 91A is the successor to the Beta 91, which it replaces with a number of improvements.

The capsule has been optimised for better low-frequency response.

Its design allows it to be integrated into the preamplifier, giving it direct XLR connectivity.

It also has a corrective filter for use in a bass drum.
