Presentation
Sim'n Tonic's Nome II is a benchmark for musicians and producers who juggle modern equipment with vintage instruments. Designed as a precision MIDI clock, it provides seamless synchronisation between synthesizers, analogue sequencers, Eurorack systems and digital audio workstations. Its wide tempo range, from 30 to 400 BPM, covers everything from slow, atmospheric ambiences to the fast rhythms of electronic music.
One of the Nome II's greatest assets is its rhythmic flexibility. With the ability to define from 1 to 99 beats per bar, it adapts to all rhythmic signatures, from classic structures to more daring experiments. Its built-in audio metronome offers no fewer than 60 different sounds, nine volume levels and a clearly marked downbeat, making it an invaluable tool for rehearsing or performing without losing the thread.
The Nome II's connections offer extensive compatibility. Two MIDI DIN outputs guarantee a link with classic equipment, while an analogue clock port and a DIN Sync 24 open up the field to older machines. Thanks to its multifunction input and USB-C connectivity, it can also be used in hybrid set-ups integrating computers and modern interfaces. On the Mac, U-SYNC technology ensures perfect precision, and on Windows, 24P mode maintains constant stability.
In real-life situations, the Nome II is a discreet but essential conductor. Its compact 362g metal casing inspires confidence, whether in the studio or on stage. The large, easy-to-read display and ergonomic rotary knob make quick adjustments easy, even in dark environments. This balance between robustness and ease of use makes all the difference in a live setting, where every second counts.
