Presentation
The Sterling by Music Man Luke LK100HSS Heritage Cherry Burst guitar is the result of a collaboration with Steve Lukather, Toto's iconic guitarist and a key figure in modern recording. The Luke is one of those guitars whose design is instantly recognisable, having left its mark on decades of concerts and studio sessions around the world. This HSS version retains the DNA of the historic Luke, while expanding the sound range to meet today's needs.
The nyatoh body, complemented by a flamed maple top, provides a balanced sound base, with good projection and an even response across the spectrum. The Heritage Cherry Burst finish is a clear reference to classic visual codes, while adding a contemporary touch. The torrefied maple neck has a V-shaped profile inspired by Steve Lukather's preferences, designed for fluid, unconstrained playing. The rosewood fingerboard promotes a controlled attack and precise note reading.
The 12" radius makes it easy to play strong rhythms as well as more technical passages. The 22 medium frets make for comfortable playing, without feeling stiff. The HSS configuration combines a ceramic humbucker in the bridge with two simple Alnico windings, allowing you to move from a dense, powerful sound to clearer, more articulate textures. The five-position selector makes these transitions immediate in real-life situations.
The 12dB active push-push boost, built directly into the volume, is a key element of the Luke philosophy, originally designed to stand out in a busy mix without changing amps. The vintage vibrato retains a traditional feel but is still usable in a modern setting. The locking action improves tuning stability under heavy use.

Steve Lukather is the legendary guitarist and founding member of Toto, world-renowned for his melodic playing and cult solos such as Rosanna. A true studio chameleon, he has recorded on over 1,500 albums, lending his talent to icons ranging from Michael Jackson (notably on the Thriller album) to Paul McCartney. His unique style fuses the technique of rock, the sensitivity of blues and the complexity of jazz-fusion, earning him five Grammy Awards over the course of his career.
