A 9.6 kg turntable deserves a case to match, and the Technics SL-1200 MK7 EG Silver + Walkasse Turntable Trolley Silver Flight Case provides the perfect elegant accompaniment. As the successor to the SL-1200 series, this direct-drive turntable reaches 33 1/3 rpm in 0.7 s. With a speed fluctuation of just 0.025% WRMS, every break remains perfectly in sync with the DJ’s touch.

With the tonearm and rubber mat fitted, it weighs approximately 1.8 kg and provides the vinyl with rock-solid inertia. Speeds of 33 1/3, 45 and 78 rpm, along with ±8 per cent or ±16 per cent speed adjustment, cover hip-hop, house and vintage 78s from flea markets. The starting torque of 1.8 kg/cm (0.18 N/m) stands up to even the most vigorous scratching.

The 230 mm statically balanced tonearm, with a 15 mm overhang and a 22° offset angle, tracks the groove right to the end, with an angular tracking error of 2°32’ on the outer edge and 0°32’ on the inner edge of a 30 cm section. The height is adjustable from 0 to 6 mm, the tracking force of 0 to 4 g in direct-play mode and the cartridge holder weighing approximately 7.6 g accommodate cartridges weighing 5.6 to 12.0 g without an auxiliary weight, or 14.3 to 20.7 g including the cartridge holder. The RCA phono output and earth terminal ensure a clean signal, and the 110–240 V, 50/60 Hz AC power supply consumes 8 W, or 0.2 W on standby, whether in a club in Tokyo or Marseille.

The 6 mm plywood flight case features a 0.8 mm honeycomb outer lining and solid aluminium profiles. Velvet, dense foam and shims secured with Velcro hold the turntable in place, whilst the two butterfly locks and stackable ball corners secure the case.

The retractable trolley handle, transport wheels and recessed handle allow the 8.5 kg case to be moved, whilst the Ø35 mm ABS cable grommet allows cables to pass through. The black and aluminium colour scheme gives it the look of a pilot’s suitcase. In the box, the turntable comes with its felt disc, divider sheet, dust cover, EP adapter, counterweight, cartridge, set of screws, phono, earth and mains cables, and the instruction manual.
