Presentation
Universal Audio 4-710D Twin-Finity is a quadruple hybrid microphone preamplifier, combining the warmth of tubes with the precision of solid-state. Designed to provide unmatched sonic flexibility, this preamplifier is ideal for professional studios looking to capture a wide range of tones and sonic textures.
The 4-710D features four preamp channels, each with a frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz, ensuring faithful and extended sound reproduction. Each channel features a Tone Mix knob to adjust the combination of tube and solid-state preamp circuits. This unique feature allows for precise tone shaping, from crystal-clear transparency to warm, rich saturation.
Analog inputs include four XLR mic jacks, four line jacks, four Hi-Z instrument jacks, and four additional line jacks for channels 5 through 8. Analog outputs are XLR, providing robust and reliable connections. The 4-710D also features digital outputs via a DB-25 connector (AES/EBU) and two optical ports (ADAT), allowing easy integration with modern digital systems.
48V phantom power is available on each channel, allowing the use of condenser microphones.
Each channel is also equipped with a dual gain control (Gain/Level), allowing extreme modification of the signal coloration and distortion, providing great sonic diversity.
The integrated VU meters, with a unique "Drive" mode, allow the saturation of the input stage to be visualized, helping to precisely adjust the gain level.
The 4-710D incorporates a compression section inspired by the famous 1176 compressor, offering precise and musical dynamic control. This compression section has a true bypass, allowing it to be activated or deactivated as required.
In addition to four channels of preamp, the 4-710D offers eight channels of 24-bit/192 kHz A/D conversion, allowing analog signals to be digitized with exceptional accuracy.
Word Clock connections ensure perfect synchronization with other digital equipment, ensuring maximum signal integrity.
With a 2U rackmount format, the 4-710D is designed to fit easily into standard racks, saving space while still delivering considerable sonic power.
This preamp comes with an integrated DI box, adding even more versatility for live and studio recording.
