Plugins Effects Software
Plate, UVI's custom electro-mechanical reverb, is the ultimate plate reverb plugin, based on the physical modelling of the legendary EMT140 and EMT240.

Presentation
Plate from UVI is a fully configurable electro-mechanical reverb.
Let the magic work on your vocals and instruments, and create your own sound designs with ease.
The sound quality of this plate reverb plugin will blow you away, and you won't want to do without it!
The aim of UVI is not to clone a particular machine, but to reproduce the sound of several physical reverbs. You can browse the physical characteristics of each type of reverb, and even design your own effects.
To achieve this, UVI has used fully parametric physical modelling to build a complete plate reverb system. This approach combines scientific research with musicality. The models used as a basis were made from in-depth mathematical research, and the results were adjusted based on detailed measurements carried out on EMT 140s and EMT 240s.
With Plate, every component of sound can be simulated: dimensions, materials, input/output positioning, modulation and decay shaping, while remaining within the overall sonic terrain allowed by physics. This has made it possible to create an infinite number of Plate reverb effects.
UNDER THE BONNET
To better understand how to use Plate's features, we invite you to take a look at its various parameters:
METAL PLATE
- I/0 POSITION: Left and right inputs and outputs can be freely positioned on the metal plate. The greater the distance between them, the more dispersed the transients, like a spring reverb. If you place them close to the edges, the sound will be thinner and more nasal. Placing them near the centre will produce a fuller sound.
- MATERIAL: Choose between Steel, Gold, Silver, Titanium or Aluminium; each type of metal has a considerable effect on decay, so feel free to experiment.
- AREA: between 0.3 and 6 m (value expressed in steel equivalent), the higher the values, the higher the modal density
- ASPECT: between .05-20, a squarer aspect creates a homogeneous sound, smaller and longer aspects result in metallic, 'oscillating' transients, similar to a spring reverb.
- ANISOTROPY: between 0-1%, adds small defects to the metal, causing a slight variable detuning of the modes
-VOLTAGE: between 0-2000, simulates the voltage applied to the metal plate; higher values increase the frequency of the higher modes
DECAY
- DAMPER: between 200 ms and infinity, the first control simulates a rigid, porous material pressed against the plate to reduce decay time
- FRICTION: multiplier, simulates the loss of thermoelastic energy
- AIR: multiplier, simulates the decay effect of radiation on the plate
Important: all absorption controls are accompanied by cut-off frequency settings, so that, depending on the scan, natural or artificial results can be obtained.
ADDITIONAL CONTROLS :
- OCTAVE-BAND DECAY: adjusts RT60 decay time per octave band
- OCTAVE-BAND EQ: sculpt your sound with an octave-band equalizer
- LOWCUT EQ: a low-cut filter useful for softening bass-heavy sounds
- PREDELAY: between 0 ms and 1s, delays the reverberated signal
- DRIVE: between 0-100%, applies a saturation stage (preamp) to the signal before it reaches the plate
- MIX: between 0-100%, doses the mix of processed and unprocessed signals
- QUALITY: allows you to adjust the operation of Plate according to the design of the patch and your needs. To do this, the effect will change the number of modes (think of these modes as the voices of a synth). In most cases, a 'Medium' setting will produce a magnificent result, while the 'Insane' parameter simulates 20,000 modes for the ultimate effect that's best suited to offline rendering.
