Folk Guitar
Folk guitar with solid spruce top and scalloped X-bracing for extra volume and bass. A unique character with a little more volume, a little more bass and a little more punch than the previous FG700 range, which was already a reference model, particularly for teachers, conservatories and music schools. Presentation
The FG series was launched in 1966 with the clear aim of offering guitarists an affordable, reliable instrument that would stand the test of time.
The FG800 models (replacing the FG700 series) offer a massive soundboard on all models, more volume, more projection and more presence in the lower end of the spectrum. What's more, the new scalloped X-bracing moves the resonance to the centre of the guitar, with considerable impact for the guitarist.

To find out more...
Yamaha celebrates the 50th anniversary of its acoustic guitars and proudly presents its new FG800 series of guitars at NAMM 2016, January 21-24, 2016 in Anaheim, California. This historic new series is the successor to the FG700 series.
The FG800 series models were developed with feedback from many professional guitarists and dealers. Yamaha found that a lot of things didn't need to be touched - but there was one recurring comment: Everyone wanted to recapture the unique character of the FG180 with just a little more volume, a little more bass and a little more punch.
To achieve this goal, Yamaha relied on powerful software capable of analysing and simulating the tonal characteristics of this legendary guitar. In this way, they were able to understand exactly how the bracing affected overall volume, projection, inertia and, more generally, what gave it its unique character, and modify it to suit the demands of guitarists.
The body depth of the FS models (90-110mm) is slightly shallower than that of the 700 series models (100-120mm), providing greater comfort, especially for beginners.
