Developed in collaboration with icon Steve Gadd, the RBROCKSOB Recording Custom Rock Solid Black 22" combines the legendary heritage of the Recording Custom series with modern design (such as the Y.E.S.S. II mounting system), offering exceptional tuning versatility to move easily from a dry groove to a deep, resonant sound. Designed for a massive rock sound, the 22" x 18" birch bass drum delivers a punchy, focused low end, amplified by new-generation weighted lugs that maximise core sustain while reducing interference with other drums, the secret of a 'pre-equalled' sound perfect for studio and stage. The 100% North American birch drums are optimised with 30-degree chamfers, giving the drums a precise, powerful sound and a clean attack renowned for excelling in a recording environment, ensuring that every hit is clearly defined even in the densest mixes.
Presentation
The reinforced, weighted shells improve sustain and promote a clean, articulate timbre, useful in a rock context where the notes need to break through. Remo US Coated Ambassador skins (and equivalent resonance skins) for the toms, combined with Remo PS3 Coated kick skins and Remo Smooth White PS3 resonance skins on the bass drum, allow a wide dynamic range depending on the performance.
The 22''x18'' bass drum delivers a powerful yet controlled low end, while the 10''x7'' and 12''x8'' toms offer smooth transitions between registers. The 16 "x15" stand tom and the Y.E.S.S. toms support minimise the stress on the wood, so as not to interfere with resonance.
As is often the case with Yamaha, the kit comes without a stool, hardware, cymbals or snare drum, giving you complete freedom of choice when it comes to customisation. On stage or in the studio, this kit reproduces the nuances of playing while respecting the rock identity: every stroke, from the backbeat to the energetic fill, is well defined, with a balance between attack and sustain.
