Yamaha - U1 Noir brillant Stock B

The Yamaha U1 is a piano that has accompanied several generations of pianists, pupils and teachers. This second-hand model offers the chance to rediscover that experience on an instrument that has stood the test of time whilst retaining the core features of the U series: precise action, a consistent touch and a tone capable of expressing sufficient nuance to support a musician’s development.

At 121 cm tall, the U1 occupies an interesting position amongst upright pianos. Its design ensures a balanced tonal presence across the entire keyboard, whilst retaining a size suitable for a home, a classroom or a music studio. The 88 keys offer a direct response, allowing the player to work on the precision of their touch as well as nuances and control.

This particular instrument was manufactured in Japan between 1975 and 1980. Its glossy black cabinet offers a classic aesthetic that blends easily into any interior. The information provided for this instrument also indicates that restoration work has been carried out on the cabinet, the action, the hammers, the dampers and the pedals, as well as tuning. The work carried out to balance the tone of the hammers helps to restore a more consistent response from one note to the next.

The U1 also features three pedals – soft, sostenuto and forte – as well as a soft-close keyboard lid. These features contribute to a more comfortable and safe everyday experience.

Choosing this Yamaha U1 from Stock B therefore means giving a new lease of life to an acoustic piano that already has a history. Rather than focusing solely on the ‘new’ appearance of an instrument, this approach prioritises the design, mechanics and character of a Yamaha model that has been recognised for several decades. Weighing in at 228 kg, it remains a genuine acoustic piano intended for long-term installation, whether for personal practice, teaching or regular musical work.
