Presentation
The Zildjian K Constantinople 19" Crash Ride is aimed at drummers who like to get away from the classic placements and build their kit around sound rather than habit. This is not a simple crash or a traditional ride, but a hybrid cymbal that naturally finds its place on the left, where you can really play with the textures.
As soon as you put it into play, it reacts with a certain suppleness. The medium-thin weight makes it easy to open up, without having to force it. On crash, the sound spreads out quickly, with a dark, dense colour, but without becoming overpowering. It remains controlled, with a gradual decay that lets the rest of the kit breathe.
Used in a ride, it changes its role completely. The definition remains, but with a richer harmonic background than a classic ripple. The pin lathing, visible on both sides, adds that slightly special grain, like an extra layer to the sound. You hear more nuance, more detail, especially when you're playing with fine dynamics.
In a jazz or fusion context, it quickly becomes an interesting tool for varying intentions. It can accompany a light groove, respond to a phrase or act as a rocking point between two sections. It's a cymbal that invites you to explore, to break out of your automatisms, and to build a more open style of playing.
