The combination of the Class D amplifiers used with the A Series woofers, and the Class AB amplifiers that accompany the tweeters, generates an impressive sound pressure level (SPL) on all models and an extremely low frequency response. The use of digital signal processing allows the A Series to benefit from advanced features.
All A Series speakers are equipped with an X-ART tweeter installed in the middle of a custom-made HPS waveguide. The high quality of the materials used in the tweeter, which is hand-bent in Berlin, combined with precise control of the propagation produced by the waveguide, results in better high-frequency dispersion at both short and long listening distances.
The A-Series woofers are made from six layers of mineral rock fibre baked together to create a lightweight but highly stable material, which helps to suppress partial vibrations and other sound impurities. By combining this material with the new magnet system, the A-Series woofers produce a high level of output with very little distortion, for a very clean bass sound.
The elegant design of the baffles also contributes to the superior audio performance of the A Series models. Specifically, the baffles have been bevelled to minimise diffraction, and the thicker walls reduce vibration within the cabinet. In addition, the flared ports on each side reduce the noise normally produced by the ports, compared with AX Series speakers, by optimising airflow.
