Measurement Microphone

Designed to measure rather than colour the sound, the Antelope Audio Edge 360 offers a linear response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz and true omnidirectional polar pattern. Each microphone is individually measured and supplied with its own calibration file. When used in conjunction with Antelope Room Correction, it enables you to analyse the behaviour of a room and its speakers to achieve a more accurate and consistent listening experience.

The Antelope Audio Edge 360 is a measurement microphone designed to provide a reliable reference for acoustic calibration. Unlike a vocal or instrumental microphone, whose response can be deliberately shaped to achieve a particular tonal character, the Edge 360 prioritises linear response so that measurements reflect the actual behaviour of the room and the listening system as faithfully as possible.

Its 16 mm electret condenser capsule is optimised for measurement applications. It has a truly omnidirectional polar pattern and consistent off-axis response – two essential characteristics when analysing reflections and the acoustic environment around the listening position. Its linear frequency response covers 20 Hz to 20 kHz, encompassing the entire audible range specified by Antelope Audio.

One of the Edge 360’s key features is its individual calibration. Each unit is measured separately and receives a calibration file corresponding to its own serial number. It is therefore not simply a generic file applied to all microphones of that model. The file can be imported into Antelope Room Correction to compensate for any response variations specific to the microphone in use.

The Edge 360 is particularly well-suited to the calibration of studios, home studios, control rooms, monitoring systems and public address installations. With a maximum SPL of 124 dB, it can also be used for high-level measurements, particularly when setting up sound reinforcement systems. Its signal-to-noise ratio of 70 dB also ensures that noise levels remain low enough for measurements in quiet listening environments.

Connection is straightforward via a 3-pin XLR output, and power is supplied via 48 V phantom power. The microphone comes with a standard clip compatible with a microphone stand, a pop filter for outdoor use and a protective carrying case.

The most important thing to bear in mind when using the Edge 360 is to ensure you have the calibration file corresponding to your own serial number. Antelope Audio does not simply provide a generic correction for the model: each microphone is measured individually, and its file enables Antelope Room Correction to compensate for variations specific to that particular unit.

It is also worth noting that the Edge 360 is a measurement microphone, not a recording microphone intended for vocals or instruments. Its deliberately linear response and omnidirectional polar pattern are specifically chosen so as not to impose any sonic colouration on the system being measured.

Finally, the fact that it works with Antelope Room Correction does not mean that the microphone is limited to use with Antelope equipment: it features a standard XLR output and operates on 48 V phantom power. However, the full integration of the correction described by Antelope Audio relies on its compatible Room Correction environment.
