With the 2500+, API adds a highly requested feature to its famous 2500 bus compressor: parallel compression.
This effect, widely used in modern music, allows you to use (or even abuse) compression and mix the result with the unprocessed signal to limit the drawbacks as much as necessary: too compressed, the sound loses too much bass and becomes "crushed", "small".
The API 2500 is a very versatile stereo compressor that allows you to adjust the sound qualities in order to modify the timbre and dynamics of a stereo mix. This device, which can be installed in a 19-inch rack, has a patented "Thrust" circuit for powerful and explosive bass. Thanks to its dual channel, it can compress both a stereo mix and two sources with the same settings. The 2500 is equipped with a variety of parameters that make it incredibly musical.
API has further extended the flexibility with the selection of "vintage" or "modern" compression. The "vintage" style uses the "feedback" compression mode found in the 1176, Fairchild or 525 API models. The "modern" style uses a "feed forward" mode similar to other popular compressors. The output stage features API's automatic gain compensation feature, which allows the user to change thresholds or ratios while maintaining a constant output level. Fidelity is ensured by a fully discrete and fully symmetrical design, and two front-panel VU meters provide a visual indication of input, output and gain reduction.
