Suitable for all needs, the Macchiato compressor uses a custom compression ratio with 3 EQ bands available: Dark, Medium and Light, or Bass, Middle and Treble, if you prefer. It retains the expression you put into your playing, but simply compacts the dynamic range by a defined ratio, independent of the overall level. It also contains a subsonic filter switch that reduces certain specific frequencies that can sometimes interfere with stage elements and damage ported cabinet speakers through excessive excursion. The compression actually works like an amplified EQ, making the bass really sing. It's one of the most finely tuned compressors on the market.

"Because the extreme lows contain more energy than the higher frequencies, the Macchiato compressor enhances the harmonics and the overall sound becomes more focused. The bass guitar's overall frequency spectrum overlaps considerably with that of other instruments and it is often preferable to reduce the amount of bass in the instrument, thus retaining definition and clarity and standing out from the general bass mush that is so often present. The perceived tonal deficiency in the extreme bass is magically corrected as soon as the other band members start playing."
